Software Engineering Manager

Join Microsoft Advertising's Billing Platform team and help power one of the company's most business-critical systems. Our platform manages the end-to-end financial lifecycle for advertisers, including invoicing, payments, budget management, revenue processing, financial reporting, and global compliance. As a Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of highly talented engineers while providing technical leadership for a large-scale, mission-critical platform that processes advertiser spend at global scale. You will drive platform modernization, operational excellence, AI-enabled engineering practices, and innovation in monetization systems, partnering closely with Product, Finance, CRM, Measurement, and Identity teams. Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team through coaching, mentoring, hiring, and talent development. Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for Microsoft's Advertising Billing Platform. Drive the design, architecture, and delivery of scalable services supporting billing, invoicing, payments, financial controls, and reporting. Establish a culture of engineering excellence focused on reliability, security, quality, and operational rigor. Partner with cross-functional leaders across Engineering, Product, Finance, and Operations to deliver business-critical capabilities. Leverage AI and automation to improve developer productivity, operational efficiency, and customer support experiences. Manage technical execution for complex multi-team initiatives while balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform investments. Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment that enables engineers to do their best work and grow their careers.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams. Solid background designing and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud services. Demonstrated success driving architecture decisions and technical strategy across multiple teams. Experience with financial systems, billing, payments, commerce, accounting, or enterprise platforms is highly desirable. Exceptional collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
