Teacher -Private Day and Residential Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183 bed acute care and residential facility. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military. The teacher participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team in provision on educational instruction to students. The Teacher will provide classroom instruction with attendant documentation for both the facility record and for each student’s school system. Operates under the guidelines of the program, regulatory agencies and the State Board of Education. In most instances, class size is 6-10 students of ages 5 to 12 (Children) or 13 to 18 (Adolescents), however the Teacher also has Homeroom responsibilities. Position duties include Referral Development activities and contact with school systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements: Licensure/Certification/Registration: Virginia Provisional Teaching Certificate. Current certification in Special Education and endorsement in Emotional Disabilities AND Specific Learning Disabilities OR endorsement in Special Education General Education Curriculum K-12 required. Current certification in CPR, HWC and First Aid Current certification in medication management (Dayschool only).
