About this role
Phillips 66 & You - Together we can fuel the future As an Engineer, Process Control at Phillips 66, you will help configure, optimize, and maintain the control systems that keep our operations safe, reliable, and efficient. You will apply your engineering skills to improve how we monitor and control complex refining processes, partnering with operations, maintenance, and project teams to deliver measurable performance. In this role, you will build hands-on experience with advanced process control and digital tools while contributing directly to the success of our refinery. What You’ll Do
Configure, maintain, and optimize refinery process control systems, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and operator graphics, to meet safety, reliability, production, and optimization objectives. Provide process control engineering support in assigned production areas to troubleshoot, analyze, and help safely resolve control and instrumentation issues during normal operations, startups, shutdowns, and upsets. Support the design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and upgrade of process control hardware and software, including system changes for modernization, automation, and capital or turnaround projects. Analyze process and control data to identify reliability, performance, and operability issues, recommend improvements, and implement straightforward changes to equipment, control logic, and work processes. Monitor alarm system performance, support alarm management and rationalization activities, and help address nuisance, bad-actor, and standing alarms so operators can respond effectively to changing conditions. Develop, maintain, and update documentation for control strategies, alarms, calculations, interfaces, standards, and procedures, including control narratives and related records in systems such as SAP. Participate in process safety and Management of Change (MOC) activities, including process hazard analyses (PHAs), incident investigations, audits, and inspections, providing control system input and implementing assigned actions. Use engineering tools, models, and analytics to test, validate, and report on control system performance against defined metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), and share findings with cross-functional teams.
