Job Summary

ROLE SUMMARY: We're looking for an Art Director who still makes the work and manages people who do the same. This is a player-coach role, leading and managing Associate Art Directors and designers (senior through junior) while working hands-on to set the creative standard. You bring equal parts senior judgment and craft, executing alongside the team to make your direction both credible and actionable. You'll bring that to a creative studio supporting three distinct B2B brands: FreeWheel, Media Solutions, and Universal Ads. The work spans go-to-market campaigns, sizzle reels, digital experiences, presentation design, video production support, and industry events including NewFronts and Cannes Lions. It's high-volume, high-visibility, and fast-moving. You need to lead and execute across all of it simultaneously. You'll report to the Head of Design and operate as a peer to a second Art Director. The expectation is that your presence raises the creative ceiling for the work and for the people around you.

Job Description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES    Concept and execute visual directions for integrated campaigns across FreeWheel, Media Solutions, and Universal Ads from initial exploration to final delivery.   Formally manage and develop Associate Art Directors and designers by setting clear creative direction, upholding standards, and elevating team output through leadership and hands-on execution.   Operate as a true multidisciplinary designer: brand, digital, presentation, motion-aware, moving fluidly between formats at speed without losing quality.   Art direct and produce across formats: digital and paid media, sales and event presentations, sizzle reels and video frames, brand toolkits, and large-format event creative.   Lead design innovation by introducing new tools, formats, and approaches and integrating them into real production workflows.   Bring working proficiency in HTML/CSS, able to build, debug, and QA digital executions directly, removing friction between design and production when it matters.   Build rapid prototyping workflows that close the gap between concept and proof of concept.   Partner with copywriters, video editors, and motion partners as an equal creative voice.   Develop and maintain scalable brand and design systems across a multi-brand environment.   Identify where the team's visual standards need to evolve and take ownership of moving them.      WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT    This is not a management role in disguise. If your primary value is organizing the work of others, this isn't the right fit. We need an Art Director who can out-think the brief, push the work further, and back it up with execution that's undeniable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Portfolio demonstrating original concept development and executed craft across digital, brand, and campaign work at a level that is clearly, visibly Art Director.   5 to 8 years of progressive design experience, with 2 to 3 years directing and managing creative in an agency or in-house studio.   True multidisciplinary range across brand, digital, presentation, and motion-aware design.   Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma, with the ability to build clean, production-ready files at speed.   Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, able to debug, QA, and step in when needed. Someone who removes friction, not a full-time coder.   Experience
