About this role

Cerebras Systems builds the world's largest AI chip, 56 times larger than GPUs. This architecture allows Cerebras to deliver industry-leading training and inference speeds; over 10 times faster than GPU-based hyperscale cloud inference services. This order of magnitude increase in speed is transforming the user experience of AI applications, unlocking real-time iteration and increasing intelligence via additional agentic computation. Cerebras works with the leading model labs, global enterprises, and cutting-edge AI-native startups. OpenAI recently announced a multi-year partnership with Cerebras, to deploy 750 megawatts of scale, transforming key workloads with ultra high-speed inference.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Center Electrical Engineer to develop, review, and deliver the electrical infrastructure required for Cerebras' next-generation AI cluster deployments. This role will translate the power requirements of Cerebras systems into safe, reliable, scalable, and repeatable data center designs, working closely with internal manufacturing partners and Cerebras mechanical, thermal, hardware, controls, and systems engineering teams. The engineer will own electrical design criteria and contribute to the Basis of Design (BoD) for new deployments, including utility service, medium- and low-voltage distribution, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, busway, rack power, grounding, protection, metering, and controls. The role will also work directly with colocation providers, engineering consultants, EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers, and other vendors to validate designs, resolve technical issues, support commissioning, and continuously improve Cerebras' global data center standards.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain electrical design criteria, specifications, standard details, and Basis of Design documentation for Cerebras data center deployments. Translate AI system, rack, and cluster power requirements into complete facility electrical architectures with appropriate capacity, redundancy, selectivity, and maintainability. Partner with internal manufacturing, hardware, mechanical, thermal, controls, networking, and systems engineering teams to define power interfaces and deployment requirements. Design and review utility service, medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, static transfer switches, busway, PDUs, RPPs, and rack-level power distribution. Perform or review load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, grounding, harmonic, voltage-drop, and reliability studies. Develop power capacity models, one-line diagrams, equipment schedules, sequence-of-operations narratives, and technical requirements for high-density AI clusters. Review designs, calculations, submittals, equipment selections, and shop drawings produced by colocation providers, consultants, EPC contractors, and vendors. Coordinate electrical requirements with liquid-cooling systems, CDUs, pumps, controls, life-safety systems, and other critical mechanical infrastructure. Support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, integrated systems testing, energization, commissioning, and operational readiness activities. Identify electrical risks, constraints, long-lead equipment, and constructability issues early and drive practical resolution across internal and external teams. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL, NEMA, IEC, local utility requirements, and regional regulations. Evaluate new power technologies and vendors and incorporate lessons learned into repeatable global deployment standards.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 7+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting mission-critical, hyperscale, colocation, semiconductor, industrial, or similarly complex facilities. Strong
