Instrument/equipment turnover for "to follow" cases is efficient and consistent with appropriate time frames. Makes recommendations to Charge Nurse for procurement and maintenance of equipment. Responsible for performing counts on all surgical procedures to include instruments, needles and sponges as is appropriate and according to specific policy and procedure. Monitors the proper functioning of sterilizers, required temperature reached, full cycle completed and test "indicator" present. Demonstrates the ability to identify malfunctioning sterilizers through interpretation of those tests. Assists in the assembly of a wide variety of instrument sets ensuring accuracy, including listing missing instruments and signing the instrument set list according to protocol, as assigned. Communicates with Charge Nurse so that preference card revisions can be made. Assist anestheisa with TEE probe, TEE machine, decontamination and processing and TEE probe. Qualifications Job Duties/Responsibilities Requirements: Minimum of two (2) years’ recent operating room experience as a Surgical Tech. Minimum of one (1) year experience first scrubbing for cardio-thoracic/coronary artery bypass surgery.
