Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation. This role in summary: Whirlpool is looking for a qualified candidate for the role of Motor Expert (Senior Analyst) for the Laundry System team at the Pondicherry location. This role will lead the development and validation of motor systems for semi-automatic, fully-automatic (top-load & front-load) washers and dryers. The candidate will be responsible for driving performance, cost, quality, and energy efficiency improvements across PSC, Universal, BPM (Inverter), and Direct Drive motor architectures, including Motor Control Unit (MCU) integration. The role demands strong technical depth in electromechanical systems, cross-functional collaboration, and structured problem solving to ensure Whirlpool laundry products deliver differentiated performance, reliability, and energy efficiency in alignment with global standards. Your responsibilities will include: Lead motor system development and validation for new and existing laundry products (washers and dryers). Define and optimize motor sizing, torque, and speed characteristics based on system performance requirements and product configurations. Drive motor technology selection and standardization across platforms (PSC, Universal, BPM, Direct Drive). Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to develop motor specifications, drawings, and validation plans. Support Motor Control Unit (MCU) hardware/software integration for speed, torque, and efficiency optimization. Conduct performance, reliability, and durability testing, analyzing data to identify improvement opportunities. Work closely with Powertrain, NVH, and Controls teams to ensure motor designs meet performance and acoustic targets. Perform DOE and simulation-based analysis to validate torque, current, and temperature performance under different load conditions. Lead DFMEA, DVPR, and test plan creation for all motor and drive components. Benchmark competitor products and identify opportunities for cost, quality, and innovation improvement. Support resolution of field and quality issues, identify root causes, and define permanent corrective actions. Minimum requirements: Education: M.E / M.Tech (Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics), B.E (Electrical / Mechanical) Experience: 4 – 8 Years (Master's degree), 6 – 10 Years (Bachelor's degree) Preferred skills and experiences TECHNICAL Strong understanding of motor types – PSC, Universal, BPM (Inverter), and Direct Drive. Experience in motor design, selection, and validation for washing machines and dryers. Knowledge of motor control theory and MCU hardware/software fundamentals.
