At Numeric, we’re building the modern data platform for accounting and finance. Every business would like to ground their decisions, strategy, and analysis in rich, up-to-date information. Financial data, however, is poor, fragmented, delayed, and lacking context; the accounting work to bring it together is tedious and error-prone. To fix this requires foundational changes in accounting and in the broader finance function. We are addressing these problems at their root by building the infrastructure and product experiences to ingest events, transform them, match value movement, project interpretations, and report against our unified graph of financial data. We’re applying principles of software engineering and data systems to scale accounting. We tackle the hard problems. Accounting does not need more duct tape. We’ve rethought the field—its primitives, assumptions, and practices—while staying grounded by working closely with our customers. As engineers, we do our homework. We study the domain and talk to our users, and by doing so we earn the right to bring a fresh perspective to the problem of financial data.
The Role
Our Close product is the operating center for accounting and finance teams. Our product weaves collaboration, automation, and workflow tools with deeply-integrated financial data and reporting. Customers depend on Numeric to alert on their financial transactions, perform trend analyses, match money movement across accounts, and more as they close the books each month. We’re looking for engineers who enjoy shipping in a tight feedback loop with customers, and take pride in raising the quality and robustness of the system in which they work. You appreciate tight feedback loops with active customers, and are energized by shipping visible changes to user You’re comfortable reasoning about systems with regard to resilience, testing, and observability You’re excited to build systems to support and manage AI development, enabling faster pace without losing stability and quality What you need 3+ years of full-time experience building software, ideally some tenure of >2 years in one company Fluency of backend fundamentals, including data structures, database fundamentals, performance concepts.
