About this role
Our customer is the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and acts as the provider of GIG/Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to its customers, the department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This position directly supports the DISA-provided GIG capabilities and services in the 24x7 DISA Global Operations Center (DGOC). The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector and Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) have an opening in our Joint Fires Network (JFN) NOC for a Joint Fires Network (JFN) NOC Technician at Scott AFB.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for performing and training team on the following duties: Create, update, and track incident tickets using ServiceNow ITSM+S / JIRA. Provide timely situational awareness to leadership and impacted communities, and communicate effectively with the O&M team and customers. Monitor network events and failures 24/7/365 across multiple tools. Proactively analyze alarms, correlate fault information, identify impacts, isolate root causes, and coordinate corrections. Support fault isolation by diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues, including testing and fault localization. Notify relevant contacts about network incidents, coordinate with service providers for fault correction, and provide updates on service status and outages. Restore networks and services to full operation, ensure compliance with SLAs, reroute circuits as needed, and document changes in the CMDB. Provide 24/7/365 support for outages and service degradation. Demonstrate proficiency in DISN functions (routers, switches, etc.), provide technical advice for complex issues, assist in training Network controllers, and evaluate training, SOPs, and tools. Work with Shift Leads and O&M leadership for guidance and process improvements.
Basic Qualifications
Certification: DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent) required by the start date. Availability: Capability to work in a 24/7 operational setting.
Experience
Background in alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, or performance management. Expertise: Proficient in at least three of the following areas: routers, switches, crypto devices, DSN/DRSN, Video Services, Promina, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching. Network Knowledge: Moderate understanding of network topologies, including transport and IP. Must have an active DoD Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a tech control facility or cyber transport operations. Familiarity with circuit actions and vendor management. IP/Transport architecture experience Solarwinds and JIRA experience Experience in a Telco NOC or with inside or outside plant operations. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Teams. Experience in one or more of the following areas: alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, performance management, change management. Additional certifications such as CCNA, CYSA+, CASP, CCNP, JNCIE-ENT, JNCIA-Junos, WCNA, CCIE, F5 Networks Certified Technical Specialist, ITILv4, CCA-N, CCA-V, and SolarWinds Certified Professional are desirable.
