About this role
1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but most providers don't accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway’s mission is to fix this by building a new mental healthcare system everyone can access. We started by solving the biggest barrier to care: insurance. The admin work - credentialing, claims, payment reconciliation - is a nightmare. We've automated that. But we're going further. Over 75,000 providers across all 50 states run their practice on our software, serving over 1 million patients. We are building the best tools for therapists to run their entire practice, reimagining the experience of finding a therapist, and investing in the platform foundations to enable this at scale. We aren't just a billing layer; we are becoming the platform where care actually happens. We're a Series D company with $325M+ in funding (a16z, Accel, Spark Capital, etc.), looking for exceptional people to help us achieve this mission. We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better. Financial planning can sound like month-end close and rearview-mirror reporting. At Headway's stage, it's the opposite. As we scale toward $1B+ in revenue, FP&A is the engine that lets the company see itself clearly — where to invest and how to grow efficiently. We're looking for an FP&A Manager who sees this not as a reporting function, but as one of the most operationally influential seats in the company. You'll partner directly with Finance leadership and department leaders across CX, R&D, People, and G&A — connecting the decisions those teams make on the ground to the company's broader financial picture, and driving the execution that turns plans into results. You won't just report the numbers; you'll shape the decisions behind them. If you're an analytical, detail-oriented finance partner who wants real influence on how a high-growth company spends, plans, and scales — and you care about the mission behind the work — this role is built for you. You will: Be the financial thought partner and strategist for key parts of Headway's business . Serve as the embedded Finance partner to several major departments — owning the financial strategy behind how those teams invest, manage spend, and drive toward profitability. This is thought partnership, not just reporting: you'll surface tradeoffs, pressure-test plans, and help leaders make sharper financial decisions. Lead financial deep dives that drive decisions. Run the financial analyses and deep dives that identify business problems, root-cause them, and surface early signals — then turn that into strategies that accelerate progress. Help the company understand its performance at both a micro and macro level . Support company-wide consolidation, shape the performance narrative that tells leadership how the business is really tracking, and take on the ad-hoc financial analyses that inevitably arise in a fast-scaling business. Help drive the company's strategic planning . Play a central role in the processes where Headway defines its strategy and understands the financial implications — Annual Planning, Long-Range Vision — serving as a key Finance voice to teams across the company. Bring AI into the workflow. Actively apply AI tools to drive faster insight, greater efficiency, and smarter decision-making across the FP&A workflow — and help shape how the team works as those tools evolve. You’d be a great fit if: You've owned the numbers behind a fast-growing business — and made them mean something . You have 6+ years of experience, ideally blending Investment Banking, Consulting, or Private Equity/VC with a highly analytical strategic finance role at a fast-growing company. You bring a point of view on day one. You take a "measure twice, cut once" approach to financial data . You're detail-oriented and rigorous, highly proficient in Google Sheets and BI
