Individual contributor position responsible for the development and implementation of enterprise-level regulatory strategy. This includes substantiation and materials safety oversight for packaging across the personal care and home fragrance product portfolio. This role has organizational authority on packaging compliance, driving proactive regulatory intelligence, cross-functional alignment, and strategic coordination for ongoing and upcoming compliance requirements. The role shapes how compliance is integrated into innovation and development processes, while evolving systems and policies to stay ahead of the ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
Responsibilities
Regulatory Strategy & Compliance Leadership • Guide and drive the enterprise packaging compliance strategy, ensuring alignment with evolving domestic and international regulations. • Set direction and accountability for ensuring packaging components meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements globally. • Establish compliance checkpoints early in the innovation pipeline to influence packaging design decisions and set expectations throughout development. • Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory developments related to packaging materials and environmental claims, translating emerging requirements into actionable business strategies and executive communications. • Develop and sustain a Packaging Compliance Dashboard to track regulatory changes, claim substantiation status, compliance risks, and safety trends. • Integrate regulatory requirements into sustainable packaging design strategies and guidelines, partnering with Product Development and Packaging teams to improve circularity. • Influence regulatory outcomes through industry engagement, comment submissions, and participation in trade associations. Packaging Data and Claims Compliance • Establish standards and governance for packaging claim substantiation, maintaining consistency with regulatory and legal requirements. • Partner with Legal, Marketing, R&D, and Packaging groups to mentor and approve packaging claims prior to market launch. • Lead supplier engagement, compliance data collection, and documentation reviews to support evolving regulatory requirements and reporting obligations. • Drive standardization, accuracy, accessibility, and audit readiness of packaging compliance documentation and records. Packaging Materials Safety & Policy Management • Develop and maintain Packaging Materials Policies that support consumer safety, regulatory compliance, toxicological standards, and company commitments. • Partner with Global Safety teams to support safety assessments and risk evaluations for packaging components. • Build relationships with external safety authorities, testing organizations, and industry partners to strengthen materials evaluation capabilities. • Identify, assess, and remediate safety and compliance risks across the packaging portfolio. People & Cross-Functional Leadership • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to Legal, Packaging, Global Vendor Management, R&D, Sustainability, and Marketing teams, translating regulatory complexity into practical business guidance. • Lead cross-functional initiatives that embed packaging compliance, safety, and sustainability requirements throughout the product development lifecycle. • Lead, mentor, and develop associates while building
