Senior Manager, Contracts

This role reports to the Chief Contracts Negotiator who leads the Regional Contracts Team. This is an exciting business and law hybrid role and ideal for a lawyer with litigation or in-house experience with a strong business and risk management focus. The successful candidate will partner closely with the business and other key stakeholders including Legal, Privacy, Compliance and Risk teams to support commercial opportunities while managing contractual and operational risk to Aon. They are expected to independently review and negotiate commercial terms and conditions in Aon’s contracts with its clients. They must also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the risks associated with accepting (or rejecting) such terms and take a practical problem-solving approach to resolve any issues that arise. They will also be involved in risk management initiatives for the firm. The candidate will be responsible for the following for our business in Vietnam: Reviewing, negotiating and advising on client contracts, local and cross border engagements, tenders, and RFPs, and any other commercial agreements that may arise from time to time, particularly on commercial terms and conditions. Liaising with the Regional Contracts Team, internal stakeholders (such as, client-facing business colleagues across sales and account management teams, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Risk, Operations teams) and external clients for fact-finding and negotiation purposes. Managing competing priorities and workloads to support business deadlines while maintaining appropriate risk controls and governance standards. Monitoring and advising on contractual issues and emerging trends and changes in regulatory landscape in Vietnam that would impact our contracts with clients. Support on global initiatives and projects and related risk mitigation measures, contract audits, contracts deployment, implementing changes in contract deployment process Assistance with the creation of new contract templates and improving current templates to meet business needs. Managing contract template changes across different business lines. Establishing and maintaining a register of issues which frequently arise, both from a client and an Aon internal perspective, for training purposes. Conducting in-house trainings and sharing of updated templates, contracting guidelines and best practices. Such other duties as the Chief Contracts Negotiator assigns from time to time. Skills and experience that will lead to success Law degree, with relevant post-qualification experience in private practice or in-house legal, contracts management or commercial contracts role with strong knowledge and understanding of contracts/legal concepts Excellent Vietnamese and English skills (verbal and written) Able to work independently and in a team, with initiative to seek guidance as necessary, exercise sound judgment, and escalate issues appropriately where necessary Effective communication skills, for liaising with both internal and external partners Ability to spot issues and gather further information as necessary to resolve issues Ability to distil and explain key points in a clear and concise manner to both legal and non-legal stakeholders, including senior business leaders Good contracts drafting and writing skills Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance commercial objectives against legal and operational risk considerations Project management and administrative skills Strong commercial competence Ability
