At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.
Why you should join us
We’re looking for a curious and solutions-focused Controls Engineer to help shape and support our manufacturing automation systems at our Galway site. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing, improving, and maintaining control systems that enable safe, efficient, and high-quality production in a regulated environment. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, IT, and Digital Factory teams, you’ll help connect automation with broader digital manufacturing initiatives—driving innovation while supporting day-to-day reliability. This is a great opportunity to make a tangible impact while growing your technical and collaborative skills. What you will do
Support and enhance manufacturing control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and automation infrastructure. Design and implement control solutions for new equipment and process improvements. Troubleshoot issues on the shop floor, helping to minimise downtime and maintain reliable operations. Contribute to capital projects, system upgrades, and MES integration activities. Collaborate with Digital Factory teams to ensure effective integration between automation systems and MES. Support data connectivity and reliable data capture for digital manufacturing initiatives. Partner with Operations and Lean teams to drive continuous improvement. Ensure systems meet compliance, validation, and data integrity standards. Maintain clear documentation, coding standards, and change control practices.
What your background should look like
We value diverse experiences and encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every point:
Background in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or related engineering field (level 8). Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMI, SCADA, or industrial automation systems. Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments. Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, structured approach to engineering challenges. Ability to collaborate across teams and engage confidently on the shop floor. Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Understanding of regulated environments (e.g., MedTech or Pharma) and validation practices is an advantage. Familiarity with MES integration, industrial data, or
