Job Description
Job Purpose Supervise installation, testing and pre-commissioning of substation primary equipment, gantries, busbars, conductors, earthing, cabling and associated electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Review approved electrical drawings, equipment layouts, erection manuals, method statements and ITPs. Verify foundation and interface readiness before equipment installation. Supervise erection of GIS/AIS equipment, circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, CTs, CVTs, VTs, surge arresters and insulators. Monitor erection of power transformers, converter transformers, reactors, filters and auxiliary transformers. Supervise gantry erection, flexible busbar stringing, rigid bus installation and jumper connections. Verify sag-tension, clearances, hardware, clamps, connectors and equipment-terminal loading. Monitor OPGW, shield-wire and communication-cable installation within the station. Supervise earthing-grid installation, equipment bonding and earth-resistance testing. Monitor cable-tray installation, cable laying, tagging, glanding, termination and continuity testing. Coordinate installation of control, protection, SAS, SCADA, telecom and metering panels. Verify installation of ACDB, DCDB, battery chargers, batteries, UPS and station auxiliary systems. Witness equipment pre-commissioning tests and verify approved test formats. Monitor oil filtration, vacuum processing, gas handling and equipment-preservation activities where applicable. Coordinate interface checks between primary equipment, secondary systems and OEM packages. Maintain equipment-installation, test and punch-list records. Support system walkdowns, energization readiness and handover. Key Deliverables Equipment-installation checklists. Busbar and gantry inspection records. Cable and earthing-test reports. Equipment pre-commissioning records. Electrical punch-list and readiness report.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification and Experience Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering. Minimum 5-8 years of EHV substation installation experience. Experience in GIS/AIS, transformers, reactors, switchyard equipment, busbars and cabling. Knowledge of pre-commissioning and equipment-installation requirements.
