About this role
We are seeking an experienced full-time Network Engineer based in Hong Kong to join our Electronic Trading Network Engineering team. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for designing high-performance, low-latency network solutions for projects within the APAC region, whilst also supporting initiatives in other regions i.e. AMER & EMEA. As a member of our global network engineering team, you will contribute to both strategic and project design work, helping shape and advance Morgan Stanley's cutting-edge global trading network. The role demands adaptability and a readiness to engage with emerging technologies in the low-latency networking sector. The role will encompass a wide range of network engineering tasks, supporting our global trading network that operates across numerous data centres and co-location sites worldwide. Key Responsibilities: > Client Connectivity > Exchange Connectivity > Low-latency network design > The provision of high-quality technical documentation > Responsibility for the delivery of global network projects, from initial requirements gathering and solution design through to the final hand-over to deployment teams > Collaborate with external vendors and internal engineering teams to advance Morgan Stanley's low-latency trading network > Work effectively with colleagues across various technology departments and project teams to deliver business aligned solutions > Proactively update stakeholders and department management with project developments, escalating issues as necessary > The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision The successful candidate will provide Level 4 engineering support for major operational incidents, operating in a follow-the-sun model to ensure global coverage. Additionally, you will act as a subject matter expert, offering guidance and expertise to fellow team members and business stakeholders. This role would suit an experienced Network professional, most likely from a financial services background with a deep understanding of low-latency trading networks.

Required Experience > 7+ years of experience working in a similar role within financial services > CCNP level minimum, CCIE/CCDE level preferred > Proven track-record of delivering business aligned low-latency network designs > Ability to act as a technical lead in a global organisation Non-Technical > Strong interpersonal and written communication skills > Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment > Passion for delivering high-quality solutions with a high level of customer satisfaction > The ability to explain complex technical solutions to a non-technical audience > Effective collaborator who excels in a team environment and values knowledge sharing Technical > Expert knowledge of IP networking and TCP/IP > In-depth knowledge of WAN, LAN, and data centre architectures > Competent in all aspects of Routing & Switching including expert level knowledge of protocols such as spanning-tree, BGP and OSPF > Familiarity with multicast protocols such as IGMP and PIM > Experience with bi-directional NAT > Knowledge of Tap Aggregation, time-stamping and lossless network monitoring > Experience with Arista & Cisco low-latency switches > Demonstratable experience working with exchange co-locations in the APAC region Technical > Expert in low-latency network technologies > Layer 1 Networking > Market Data Distribution Networks > A10 & F5 Load-balancers > Corvil Analytics > Exposure to dark fibre and optical transport networks > Experience working with Microwave technologies > Knowledge of Precision Timing: o Time synchronisation protocols, including NTP, PTP and PPS o Meinberg & Spectracom timing products o GNSS satellite sources o White Rabbit time-synchronisation > Network Automation: o Use of Python and shell scripting to automate repetitive tasks o Experience using network automation tools and frameworks, including Ansible or similar technologies > Working knowledge of Forward Networks
