Our location in Lake County, IL currently has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Specialist, Animal Care. The Manufacturing Specialist, Animal Care will support humane care and use of animals in production and research. This includes animal handling, husbandry activities, facility support, manufacturing activity, and treatment and identification of animal disease. Additionally, the Manufacturing Specialist will follow established procedures and guidelines to manufacture products according to product specifications, volume, cost, and quality standards. What You’ll Work On Performs daily health monitoring, clinical care and enrichment for farm and laboratory animals. Communicates with clinical veterinarians, animal care staff and investigators on a regular basis, including all animal welfare needs. Performs physical examinations and treatments as deemed necessary by the clinical veterinarians. Executes study procedures in an ethical and responsible manner, according to a written animal use protocol. Maintains and monitors various reports and records including animal health and husbandry records. Prepares and submits specimens for testing at diagnostic laboratories as determined necessary by the clinical veterinarians. Operates machines and production equipment safely and in accordance with instructions. Monitor the quality of output to identify, discard, or re-manufacture faulty products. Maintains accurate daily production records so that manufacturing performance can be analyzed. Participates in the training of animal care staff in proper animal handling and care techniques. Participate in various staff meetings, staff training and continuing education. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Must be able to work a shift schedule that includes both Saturdays and Sundays or holidays on a rotating basis. Collect, and dispose of garbage and production waste according to the organization’s waste removal and recycling policies. Clean production equipment and work areas.
