About this role
Do you enjoy solving customers' most complex technical problems using the latest cloud technologies, including GenAI and agentic AI? Do you have a knack for helping financial institutions modernize their infrastructure and applications within a highly regulated environment, while leading transformational projects to success? The AWS Global Sales (AGS) team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class technical partnership is critical to customer success. This is an on-site position requiring regular presence at AWS offices and customer locations to deliver hands-on technical engagement and build trusted relationships. Within Financial Services, our customers build mission-critical, highly available applications on AWS, and rely on us to guide them through their most complex transformations. As a Senior Solutions Architect, you will own the technical engagement and success of strategic projects across the Financial Services Industry — banking, insurance, and capital markets/securities — with a strong focus on: Data & Analytics: Building modern data platforms and analytics that power regulatory reporting, risk management, and business insight GenAI & Agentic AI: Driving outcomes with generative AI and intelligent automation for use cases such as fraud detection, risk modeling, and customer engagement Legacy & Mainframe Modernization: Leading datacenter exits, VMware migrations, and modernization of legacy mainframe and core-banking systems Security, Resilience & Compliance: Strengthening security posture, meeting regulatory and data-sovereignty requirements, and architecting for high availability As a senior technical leader, you will represent AWS within customer environments, guide developers, architects, and C-level executives on digital transformation, and mentor peers across the Solutions Architecture community. Key job responsibilities As a Senior Solutions Architect supporting Financial Services customers, you will: Own strategic technical engagements end-to-end — from discovery and solution design through to implementation and production success — for banking, insurance, and capital markets/securities customers. Lead executive and architectural discussions, partnering with customers' senior technical leaders and C-level executives to shape cloud and digital transformation strategies. Drive GenAI and agentic AI adoption, identifying high-value use cases (e.g. fraud detection, risk modeling, customer engagement, document processing) and guiding customers from proof-of-concept to production. Guide data and analytics modernization, helping customers build modern data platforms that power regulatory reporting, risk management, and business insight. Lead legacy and mainframe modernization, defining datacenter exit strategies, VMware migrations, and the modernization of core-banking and mainframe systems toward cloud-native architectures. Architect for security, resilience, and compliance, ensuring solutions meet the stringent regulatory, data-sovereignty, and availability requirements of the financial sector. Act as the customer's trusted technical advisor, capturing and communicating technical requirements, and translating business goals into scalable AWS architectures. Influence AWS product direction by channeling customer feedback to service teams, and contribute to reusable technical assets, best practices, and reference architectures. Mentor and uplift peers, sharing expertise across the Solutions Architecture community and helping raise the technical bar of the wider team. A day in the life No two days look the same as a Senior Solutions Architect in Financial Services. On any given day, you might: Lead a whiteboarding session with a bank's architecture team to design a secure, resilient cloud landing zone that meets regulatory requirements. Partner with an insurer's data leaders to shape a modern data platform strategy for risk and regulatory reporting. Run a GenAI workshop with a capital
