The successful candidate will perform Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) evaluations to define the safety basis for operation of new or changing facilitates, equipment, or processes involving uranium bearing materials. They will execute computer models to evaluate normal operations and process upsets relative to NRC License limits and requirements. They will be responsible for evaluating accident sequences and designating Items Relied on For Safety to prevent a criticality accident from occurring. The individual will also perform routine surveillance, inspections, and audits of areas where licensed material is used or stored to ensure compliance with NRC License requirements. They will provide operational areas with specific NCS input and oversight as necessary.

Required Qualifications

B.S. or MS degree in Engineering.

Minimum five (5) years of NCS experience, preferably in an NRC licensed fuel cycle facility. A working knowledge of SCALE/KENO.

Must be a U.S. citizen.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Nuclear Engineering degree is preferred. Familiarity with 10 CFR part 70 is beneficial.

#LI-AN1   Pay: $86,000 - $136,000   The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $86,000 and $136,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
