In Scope of Position-Based Promotions Job Title: Lead Principal Auditor – APAC & MEA Fungible Audit Team Corporate Title: Vice President Location: Mumbai, India Role Description The Group Audit (GA) function comprises approximately 850 team members who take a proactive, risk-based and independent approach to assist the Bank’s business and infrastructure functions in identifying key control weaknesses. As the Bank’s “Third Line of Defence”, GA acts as an independent and forward-looking challenger and adviser to Senior Management and is strongly relied upon by Regulators. The Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APAC & MEA) Fungible Audit Team provides flexible audit capacity across priority regional, country and portfolio demand. The team supports high-quality audits, finding validations, thematic reviews and other approved assignments in accordance with Group Audit methodology, helping the region respond effectively to changing risks, priorities and demand. The Lead Principal Auditor will lead complex audits and workstreams across different businesses, functions and jurisdictions. The role will evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls relating to the underlying risks, provide day-to-day direction to assigned audit teams and support the development of India-based audit capability. The role will work collaboratively with the Principal Audit Manager, relevant Chief Auditors, Principal Audit Managers, Country Heads, subject-matter experts and colleagues across Group Audit to provide “front-to-back” and “joined-up” assurance. Assignments will be determined according to the approved team capacity plan, business and regulatory priorities, individual skills and development requirements. The Lead Principal Auditor will also act as a coach and role model for other auditors, support effective knowledge transfer across the team and contribute to a high-performing, inclusive and flexible team culture. Execute and lead day-to-day audit work, including audit planning, risk assessments, business monitoring, fieldwork, reporting and finding validation activities. Plan and execute audit fieldwork in accordance with the agreed audit approach, including documenting activity flows, identifying key risks, assessing control design and testing whether controls are operating effectively. Determine the appropriate audit approach for assigned workstreams and provide clear direction, coaching and support to other team members participating in the assignment. Lead the preparation of audit reports for review by audit management, including developing and agreeing high-quality findings that clearly articulate the identified control weaknesses, associated risks and required remediation. Complete assigned audit work in accordance with Group Audit methodology, quality requirements, agreed budgets and delivery timelines. Review audit workpapers and other deliverables prepared by assigned team members, providing constructive feedback and helping to maintain consistent quality standards. Review and provide an independent and balanced assessment of remediation action plans proposed by stakeholders, helping to support robust and sustainable remediation. Act as an effective
