Job Description
L3Harris is seeking a Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineering to support the design, development, integration, and production of advanced aerospace and defense systems. The role partners with cross-functional teams to develop ruggedized mechanical solutions for mission-critical products throughout the product lifecycle.
Essential Functions
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical background with the ability to understand and guide analyses and offer solutions related to mechanical, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical systems. Types of analysis include thermal, fluid, structural, and power.
• Create complex mechanical designs and execute layouts for multiple products.
• Demonstrated ability in packaging electrical components such as Circuit Cards, Connectors, and cables, including design, integration and validation in rugged environments.
• Demonstrated ability in developing, integrating, and validating mechanical, electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical designs.
• Lead the mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of production products.
• Lead the development of relevant design control documentation.
• Interact with outside vendors to source parts.
• Experience in the design of additive manufactured parts, machined parts, weldments, sheet metal parts, and cable assemblies.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• TS/SCI with Poly is required to start.
Preferred Additional Skills
• 5 years experience in Mechanical design, requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, component 3D CAD modeling, data collection and product documentation</span… [truncated]
