About this role

Are you ready to build America’s energy future? Form Energy is an American manufacturing and energy technology company. We’re revolutionizing energy storage with cost-effective, multi-day technology designed to keep the electric grid secure and reliable, even during extended periods of stress. By strengthening the electric system and reimagining what’s possible, we’re giving clean energy a whole new form!  In recent years, Form Energy has earned a number of accolades, including being named by TIME as a “Best Invention”, MIT Technology Review as a “Top Climate Tech Company To Watch”, and Fast Company as “One of the Next Big Things In Tech”. We are making rapid progress on our mission of delivering energy storage for a better world, and our team is growing just as rapidly to meet demand. We have signed contracts with leading electric utilities across the United States and production of our iron-air batteries is underway at our first high-volume manufacturing facility in West Virginia. Working for Form Energy is more than just a job, it’s a chance to be part of something extraordinary. And now - right as we significantly scale up battery manufacturing -  might be the most exciting moment in the company’s history to join. We are assembling a team of highly talented and driven individuals across the country. Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, our team is determined to deliver on our mission and transform the energy landscape for the better. Feeling energized to make a meaningful impact on the world? Then keep reading - you’ve come to the right place. Role Description Form Energy is hiring a Senior Engineering Technician, Prototype Shop to join the Tech Operations team, supporting the organization through the fabrication, assembly, and refinement of first-of-kind hardware. This role is designed for an experienced technician who thrives in a fast-paced R&D environment, taking ownership of builds while helping drive quality, efficiency, and execution across the shop. You will be a trusted technical resource for engineering teams, turning CAD models, drawings, and evolving designs into functional prototypes. From mechanical assemblies, custom fixtures and prototype equipment, you will use your mechanical intuition and hands-on experience to solve challenges, provide design feedback, and keep engineering projects moving. You'll also help improve shop organization, processes, and best practices while setting a high standard for craftsmanship and safety. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the scaling of our battery technology and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission! What you'll do: Build, modify, troubleshoot, and validate first-of-kind mechanical and electromechanical prototypes to support engineering development and testing. Work directly with engineers to interpret incomplete drawings, CAD models, and evolving engineering concepts into functional, high-quality hardware. Identify build issues and recommend improvements to designs, tooling, assembly methods, and overall prototype manufacturability. Set up, organize, and maintain prototype work areas, tooling, fixtures, and shop equipment to support a safe and efficient build environment. Develop and improve prototype build processes, work instructions, shop standards, and documentation to increase quality, consistency, and efficiency. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to remove roadblocks, resolve technical challenges, and keep builds moving forward. What you'll bring: 5+ years of hands-on experience in prototype, R&D, engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments supporting fast-paced product development. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently diagnose issues, develop practical solutions, and execute with minimal direction. Experience building complex assemblies directly from CAD models,
