Start here. Grow here. AECOM is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Buildings + Engineering team in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in delivering innovative mechanical building services designs across a diverse portfolio of projects, including healthcare, education, railway stations, and mission-critical data centres.

About the Role

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, manage multidisciplinary design teams, and work closely with clients, architects, contractors and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions. You will contribute to the growth of our Building Services team while helping to shape some of Ireland's most significant infrastructure and building developments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical engineering design and delivery of major building projects across the healthcare, education, transport and data centre sectors. Manage multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating with electrical, structural, civil, architectural and specialist disciplines. Act as the technical lead on complex projects, ensuring designs comply with Irish and international standards, regulations and industry best practice. Develop innovative, energy-efficient and low-carbon mechanical building services solutions. Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor throughout project delivery. Manage project programmes, resources, budgets and commercial performance. Review and approve engineering calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation. Mentor and develop junior engineers and support their professional development. Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations and project interviews. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of engineering best practice across the business.

Qualifications

Here's what we're looking for: As the successful candidate, you will have experience working across a range of sectors and will possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent professional institution. Significant experience in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects. Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, public health systems, heating and cooling plant, low-carbon technologies and sustainable building design. Experience delivering
