Job Description
AECOM is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Transportation Design Engineer to join our growing team in Murray, Utah . In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of impactful transportation projects including interchanges, highways, and urban corridors across the region. You will play a key role in developing 3D design models, preparing engineering calculations, and supporting project execution from concept through construction. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, take ownership of design elements, and further develop your technical expertise while mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Perform transportation engineering design for roadways, interchanges, and urban corridors using industry-standard tools and methodologies. Develop and manage 3D models using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads / InRoads platforms. Execute engineering calculations, analyses, and design tasks for moderately complex assignments. Gather, review, and interpret engineering data to support design decisions and project development. Prepare design plans, specifications, reports, and supporting technical documentation. Identify and resolve discrepancies while ensuring adherence to internal quality control processes. Propose solutions to design challenges by adapting standard engineering techniques and prior experience. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and efficient project delivery. Provide mentorship and guidance to entry-level engineers and support staff. Manage assigned tasks to meet project budgets, schedules, and quality expectations with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline and 4+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field. 8+ years of experience in transportation design, specifically with highways, interchanges, or urban roadway projects. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Utah or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Experience working with the Utah Department of Transportation or similar state or local agencies. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads / InRoads.
