Job Description

Trade Strategy and Marketing at AbbVie has evolved significantly from an operational and tactical focused responsibility for select products to one requiring development of complex pharmacy and distribution strategies across the entire portfolio. A key component of this evolution are the needs of stakeholders in the specialty pharmacy channel, in which AbbVie has a significant footprint of high-value brands supporting patients in Immunology, Oncology, Neuroscience and select Specialty products. These high-cost medications used to treat complex, chronic conditions often require special storage, handling and administration, and typically involve a significant degree of coordination with payers and HCPS, as well as dedication to patient education, monitoring and management. Another emerging channel in the AbbVie portfolio is the retail channel, in which crucial therapeutic areas such as Migraine, Psychiatry and GI Care have higher cost and payer managed medications which require a higher level of support as well. The expectations of a specialty and retail pharmacy and role of a pharmacist in the health care ecosystem is quickly evolving as technologies drive exponential change and transform the future of pharmacy. Many pharmacies are just beginning to embrace new technologies and customer service innovation, and as community-based retail pharmacies reinvent themselves to meet the evolving needs of their patients, a Director II of Trade Strategy & Marketing is needed to establish the vision and strategy for how AbbVie will partner with these key stakeholders to optimize the patient experience and grow our business now and in the future. Patients are also evolving, as are their needs and expectations of their experience at the pharmacy. Whether it be a focus on convenience by experimenting with new, digital capabilities of their pharmacy, or seeking higher-touch clinical support models, these increasing patient demands put pressure on manufactures such as AbbVie to define our future pharmacy value propositions and identify stakeholders in the channel to partner with to navigate this complex environment. The Director II of Trade Strategy & Marketing is responsible for leading a team that identifies business opportunities in the fast-evolving pharmacy and distribution channel, then developing and implementing initiatives to partner with pharmacy and wholesaler stakeholders, as well as other emerging channel disruptors and partners in support of patient onboarding and adherence to AbbVie products. This role supports the entire AbbVie portfolio such as Specialty products in Immunology, Oncology, and Neuroscience as well as over 100 retails products including key brands in Migraine and Psych and requires expertise in the pharmacy and distribution channel including a keen understanding of its complexities and challenges, coupled with experience developing strategic partnerships and models with an eye towards innovation. Key job responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Establish the vison and strategic framework to innovate and create best-in-class distribution and patient access models in both the specialty and retail channel. Ensure the execution of launch excellence in the Trade channel by overseeing the successful preparation of a diverse mix of stakeholders in order to drive key launches across therapeutic
