As a Data Engineer II , you will build, operate, and evolve data platforms that transform large volumes of operational and business data into trusted, actionable insights. You will work with product managers, engineers, business stakeholders, and data consumers to design and implement scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics, automation, and decision making across Microsoft's enterprise services. You will contribute to the full data lifecycle, including data ingestion, transformation, modeling, orchestration, monitoring, and operational support. Working with modern cloud technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Spark, and Azure data services, you'll help deliver reliable and efficient data products while improving platform performance, resiliency, and maintainability. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your expertise in modern data engineering practices, build scalable analytics solutions using Microsoft's latest data technologies, and collaborate directly with engineering and business leaders to influence how data is leveraged across one of the world's largest enterprise environments. Responsibilities
You will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines, transformations, and data models that convert complex data into trusted datasets for analytics, reporting, and operational insights. You will build and operate data solutions using modern cloud and analytics technologies, including Microsoft Fabric, Spark, data warehousing, and orchestration platforms. You will implement data quality, monitoring, and reliability practices to ensure data accuracy, availability, performance, and operational excellence across data platforms and pipelines. You will partner with business stakeholders, program managers, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and actionable data products. You will contribute to the design, automation, and continuous improvement of data platform capabilities, including deployment processes, CI/CD pipelines, metadata management, and operational tooling. You will support live-site operations by investigating data issues, responding to incidents, implementing corrective actions, and improving platform resiliency to reduce recurring problems. You will collaborate across teams to share best practices, improve engineering standards, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive adoption of modern data engineering capabilities.
