What We Are Looking For
The Financial Reporting Manager is a key member of the external reporting team. This role provides oversight of reporting activities performed by team members while independently managing complex processes and individual reporting and disclosure assignments supporting SEC filings, GAAP financial statements, earnings releases, employee benefit plan financial statements, and other regulatory reporting requirements. This highly visible role partners with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant reporting while supporting audit activities, technical accounting, and strategic business and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong SEC reporting and technical accounting expertise, excellent analytical, problem solving and project management skills, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. What You Will Do • Lead the timely preparation, review, and coordination of assigned quarterly and annual SEC filing sections and joint venture GAAP financial statements, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and other external reporting requirements. • Manage the preparation and review of assigned consolidated financial statements, footnotes, MD&A sections, and related supporting schedules. Includes the preparation of the consolidated statements of cash flows and related management analysis, results of operations analysis, and the guarantor financial statements. • Prepare, research, and review XBRL tagging for assigned areas. • Administer and support SEC filing processes through Wdesk, including document management, filing coordination, and account administration. • Support the preparation and review of key financial disclosures and supporting schedules for quarterly earnings release materials. • Assist in the preparation and review of annual employee benefit plan financial statements and Form 11-K filings. • Prepare and review comprehensive financial statement tie-outs, disclosure checklists, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness of external reporting. • Monitor emerging accounting and reporting requirements, perform peer and technical accounting research, and draft or review accounting position papers and related disclosures. • Perform complex analysis of individual entity and consolidation data with Excel utilizing Lawson / Essbase / Oracle’s Hyperion (HFM) inquiry tools. • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex accounting and reporting issues while providing recommendations to management. • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance reporting processes, strengthen controls, improve data quality, and increase efficiency through automation and standardization. • Coordinate, track, and drive team performance on cross-departmental projects. • Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits. • Support SOX compliance efforts and financial reporting internal control initiatives. • Mentor, develop, and coach team members by providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and professional development support. What You Need Education: • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field is required. • General understanding of the energy industry and familiarity with industry terminology. Experience/Specific Knowledge: • Minimum of 8 years of experience in progressive accounting-related positions, including hands-on financial statement preparation, SEC reporting experience and management of reporting processes. • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
