About this role
At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
The Opportunity
Do you live and breathe entertainment and the business behind it? Do you stay ahead of the curve on the scripted television series and franchises defining culture right now? Are you as interested in the creative bets, deals, and executives behind a show as you are in the show itself? Are you the person reporters call first — with story ideas already lined up before anyone asks?
If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and are a master storyteller who can turn complex business and creative challenges into compelling narratives, we invite you to join our growing communications team.
The Role
The Manager, Scripted Series Communications protects and promotes Netflix’s reputation across our scripted series portfolio, spanning drama, comedy, genre, YA, and franchise IP. This role owns the full 360-degree communications cycle—from development and greenlight through launch, renewal, and beyond—leading strategy, campaign planning, executive visibility, and issues management.
Media relations is the core of this role. You will personally pitch, secure, and shape press coverage, building narratives that connect our slate to broader cultural and industry conversations. We seek an ambitious, strategic storyteller and media relations pro who thrives in ambiguity and is energized by calculated risk. You should be a hands-on operator with established press relationships who excels at working directly with creators, talent, and production partners.
This role is based in Los Angeles and reports to the Director, Communications.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership: Drive end-to-end communications strategy from development through launch and beyond, managing messaging, campaigns, and issues management.
* Hands-On Media Relations: Personally pitch and secure coverage across trade, business, and entertainment media. Leverage an existing, deep network of press relationships to shape narratives from day one.
* Slate Storytelling: Develop horizontal, multi-title narratives (e.g., genre trends, franchise milestones, industry impact) that connect individual titles to broader cultural conversations about Netflix.
* Creative Campaigning: Craft compelling brand narratives and pitches that help titles cut through the cultural noise; identify non-traditional story angles via social, fandom, and cultural moments.
* Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with creative executives, production, marketing, and legal teams to shape long-term strategy and provide expert counsel.
* Risk Mitigation: Identify and manage brand and communications risks, including sensitive reactive situations (cancellations, HR issues, controversial content), with sound judgment under pressure.
* Executive & Talent Management: Secure and coordinate executive, creator, and talent interviews, press tours, panels, and speaking opportunities.
Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in communications at an agency, studio, or network, ideally within entertainment or media.
* Proven track record leading proactive and reactive communications strategy for scripted television, film, or comparable premium content.
* Demonstrated success building multi-title, “slate” or franchise-level narratives — not just single-title campaigns — that tie to broader cultural, economic, or industry storylines.
* Deep, established, and active relationships across trade, business, entertainment, consumer, and new, emerging media. A proven, personal track record of pitching, securing, and shaping press coverage.
* Skilled storyteller who can distill complex or
