What You’ll Do Role The CapEx/EPC Project Manager plays a critical role in driving CoolIT’s operational and strategic growth. This role is responsible for leading complex capital infrastructure and EPC-style projects across CoolIT’s expanding product portfolio, including laboratory infrastructure, test facilities, and customer-integrated cooling deployments. The Project Manager owns full lifecycle delivery—from project scope development, engineering definition, procurement, and contractor coordination through commissioning and handover—ensuring alignment across internal teams, third-party partners, and customers.
Responsibilities
Project Lifecycle Delivery: Lead end-to-end delivery of capital infrastructure and EPC-style projects from feasibility and Front-End Engineering Design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover EPC / Contractor Management: Coordinate and oversee internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, cost, and quality. Manage interfaces between internal engineering teams, field services and external delivery partners to ensure seamless execution CapEx Project Governance: Develop and manage CapEx budgets and schedules, project performance, and change management. Support commercial processes including contract execution, change orders, and cost control mechanisms Stakeholder & Customer Management: Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring clear alignment on objectives, scope, and delivery expectations. Lead structured governance cadence including executive updates, milestone reviews, and project status reporting Infrastructure Project Management: Lead planning and scheduling of laboratory and production infrastructure projects, ensuring readiness for product validation and deployment. Risk & Issue Management: Identify, assess, and manage project risks across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. Develop mitigation strategies and escalate critical risks through appropriate governance channels. Example Projects Deployment of liquid cooling lab infrastructure and test environments Data center or HPC cooling integration projects with customers EPC/EPCM-style projects involving external engineering and construction partners Capital projects supporting manufacturing expansion in Calgary WHO YOU ARE:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical disciplines, or a related technical field. Equivalent combination of technical education and relevant industry experience may be considered. 7+ years of progressive project management experience in engineering, capital projects, or industrial environments Proven experience delivering CapEx projects involving infrastructure, equipment, or facility buildouts Demonstrated involvement across the full project lifecycle, including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and external partners (contractors, vendors, or consultants) Preferred Qualifications: Experience working within or alongside EPC/EPCM delivery models Background in infrastructure, laboratory environments, data center systems, or industrial manufacturing scale-up Experience with contractor/vendor management, procurement processes, and change management in capital projects Exposure to customer-facing or externally delivered projects with multiple stakeholders Experience supporting investment cases, CapEx justification, or ROI-driven project delivery PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certifications considered an asset Skills: Strategic Thinking & Alignment Financial and Business Acumen Risk & Change Management Cross-functional Leadership Data-driven Execution
