Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Engineer Guidance Navigation Control (Level 2) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located onsite in San Diego, CA . This is 100% on-site work. The selected candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to design, develop, implement, verify, and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools to perform Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) of aircraft. Develop control laws to meet air vehicle performance, flying qualities and stability margin requirements, both on ground and in flight. Develop air vehicle system linear and non-linear dynamic simulation models and integrate models into software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments. Analyze air vehicle flight test data and support flight test activities. Basic Qualifications for GNC Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience Knowledge of fixed-wing aircraft flight dynamics Experience using linear control principles and tools to design feedback control systems Experience analyzing non-linear simulations of aircraft closed-loop dynamics Experience using MATLAB to create, process, analyze, and visually represent data Active US Government Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs following commencement of employment to be able to completely support statement of work. Excellent communication, analysis and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications: Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink Experience designing control laws for fixed wing aircraft and performing handling qualities analyses Working knowledge of MIL-STD-1797 flying qualities requirements Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. Active US Government Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). #Yellow Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
