This position will be in Huntsville, AL.

Position

Overview: As a Mechanical Engineer you will support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Hardware Engineering team's design efforts working within an Agile environment. Your core tasks will entail developing detailed mechanical drawings per ASME.Y14 standards and peer reviewing mechanical drawings. Additional responsibilities include maintaining design drawings for multiple Ground Systems (GS) IPT hardware systems and their interfaces with facilities. Essential Functions: Under the direction of your program leadership, responsibilities include performing analyses IAW industry and military standards. Develop design drawings, maintaining drawings, evaluating hardware design efforts, scheduling, and planning required tasks. Accountability and active participation in team meetings and internal/external demos, and documenting progress on team dashboards is expected. Generate engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test reports. Mentoring and cross-training junior engineers in analysis work, reviews, and approving their analysis results to meet customer requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 0-2 years of related experience. Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs. Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start. Must be able to support an in-office / closed-area work environment full-time. Experience using a 3D CAD Package such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX Experience reviewing 2D mechanical drawings per ASME standards Prior experience with engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP system such as SAP. Understanding and application of industry engineering technical standards; demonstrated structural design experience and impact assessment. Experience in evaluating vendor documents to ensure specifications and datasheet meets requirements. Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1366, MIL-STD-1472, ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000 Preferred Qualifications: BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Experience using analytical software tools, to analyze and reduce data to identify key characteristics and trends. Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process) Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware DOORS and/or CAMEO exposure Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman
