Meeting the world’s growing energy needs requires the pursuit of innovations and advancements that deliver a better future for all. about the position The Cost Engineer is part of the Engineering Services organization within the Chevron ENGINE Center and is responsible for performing cost management activities on a capital project or portfolios of upstream and downstream projects. This includes cost estimation, budget development, cost tracking, and financial reporting to ensure projects are completed within budget and financial targets are met. Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements. Key Responsibilities • Participate in developing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures as the basis for project budgeting, cost controls, planning, scheduling, and forecasting. • Assist in the development of project controls plans, cost estimates, and schedules as required by the Chevron Cost Engineering Handbook and Capital Projects Management System (CPMS). • Support the development of documentation for project funding appropriation and business planning. • Configure, maintain, and administer cost control systems; ensure interfaces with accounting and procurement systems are accurate. • Track project progress, earned value, and deviations, and provide project performance analysis. • Develop monthly project cost and schedule status reports. • Implement Cost Management of Change (CMOC) process and procedures. • Manage and control project changes for approved budgets. Ensure changes are incorporated into project cost forecasts and schedules. • Support and participate in cost and schedule assurance process and risk management process. • Evaluate contingency through risk analysis to establish appropriate contingency drawdown strategy. • Perform lookbacks to ensure continuous improvement.
