The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support. The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking an experienced Associate Director Engineer to take on the role of Hardware Lead for a next generation X-Band Radar program. Positioned within the Advanced Technologies business unit, you will be responsible for leading the design and development efforts of the Navy’s Future X-Band Radar, guiding the program through the pre-contract internal development efforts, followed by build, integration, and testing of Engineering Development Models, and eventually transitioning to the delivery of multiple Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) units. In this critical leadership role, you will manage the technical aspects of a suite of internally funded IRAD and Capital product developments to ensure system-level requirements are met while enabling seamless integration into naval environments. You will be integral in driving the technology roadmap for our key electronics and future array architectures. This multi-phase program prioritizes hardware development, producibility, commonality, and technological innovation. As the Hardware Lead, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for hardware across the multi-disciplined integrated Product Teams, working closely with all engineering disciplines, and interfacing regularly operations, supply chain, the program office and customers to strategize and ensure that hardware development activities are completed effectively, and EMD and LRIP deliveries are executed smoothly and align with program objectives. This is an onsite position based in Marlborough, MA, or Tewksbury, MA, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a program of critical importance to national defense.
