Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE: Shift: Morning - Monday - Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM Pay Rate: $28.00 The Manual Machinist is responsible for operating manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to create precision parts and components. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work with technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. The Manual Machinist will be expected to work independently or as part of a team to meet production goals, ensuring quality and safety standards are adhered to at all times. Key Responsibilities: • Set up and operate various manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders, to produce high-quality parts. • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations, sequence of operations, and machine setup. • Select appropriate tools, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters for each job. • Inspect and measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications. • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time tracking and any deviations or issues encountered during production. • Perform regular machine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating machines to ensure optimal performance. • Troubleshoot machine issues, identify defects, and make adjustments or repairs as needed. • Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all company health and safety standards. • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to ensure product specifications are met and resolve any production-related issues. • Continuously monitor and adjust machining processes for efficiency and quality improvements. Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in machining or a related field preferred. • Experience in operating manual machining equipment preferred • Strong understanding of machining techniques, materials, and tooling. • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude. • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and job tracking. Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. • Dexterity and manual skill to operate machinery and handle tools. • Must be able to work in a noisy, industrial environment. • Ability to distinguish between colors for wiring and part identification. Working Conditions: •
