Overview
An Account Executive (AE) is responsible for driving business growth and customer success by developing account strategies, building strong executive relationships, and aligning customer business priorities with Microsoft solutions. The AE leads the end-to-end sales process, orchestrating resources across Microsoft and partners to identify opportunities, create value, and deliver transformational outcomes. Acting as a trusted advisor, the AE helps customers achieve their strategic objectives while driving revenue, consumption, adoption, and long-term account growth. The role requires strong business acumen, consultative selling skills, executive engagement, and the ability to mobilize cross-functional teams to execute against customer and Microsoft priorities.
Responsibilities
An Account Executive (AE) is responsible for owning the overall customer relationship and driving business growth within assigned accounts. The AE develops and executes account strategies, builds trusted relationships with business and technology decision-makers, identifies new opportunities, and aligns Microsoft solutions to customer priorities and desired business outcomes. The role leads the end-to-end sales process, including business value discussions, stakeholder management, opportunity qualification, deal negotiation, forecasting, and closing. In addition, the AE orchestrates resources across Microsoft, partners, and the broader ecosystem to deliver customer success, accelerate adoption and consumption, and expand long-term strategic partnerships. Acting as a trusted advisor, the AE helps customers transform their businesses while achieving revenue, growth, and customer success objectives.
Qualifications
An Account Executive (AE) is expected to have strong sales, business, and relationship management capabilities, with a proven track record of managing complex customer engagements and delivering business growth. The role requires strong consultative selling skills, executive presence, strategic thinking, and the ability to understand customer business priorities and translate them into technology and transformation opportunities. A successful AE demonstrates expertise in opportunity management, negotiation, forecasting, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration, while effectively orchestrating internal teams and partners to drive customer success. Excellent communication, presentation, problem-solving, and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to build trusted advisor relationships with senior executives and consistently achieve revenue, consumption, and customer outcome goals.
