This position is open to qualified and highly committed college students enrolled in a fully accredited college or university located close to the Midland and Auburn Dow sites. Unlike a short-term internship project outside of school terms, this role is a long-term, year-round, undergraduate student position -- at least one full year in duration -- while the student is simultaneously taking classes toward an undergraduate degree. This opportunity offers the student valuable professional work experience in a dynamic, multi-national corporation interfacing with colleagues and leaders in many different roles. About you and this role -  What you will do in this role Provide basic technical support to Scientists and Technologist in the preparation and execution of experimental activities and studies. Use existing procedures to provide technical support for the characterization of materials and operation of the laboratory. Responsibilities -  Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role include, but not limited to Works as part of a team in a laboratory supporting chemists and engineers in characterizing materials by preparing samples and utilizing analytical instruments such as Gas Chromatography (GC), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Rheology, Injection molding, mechanical analysis and other analytical methods. Manages and then safely executes laboratory work requests, maintaining and running relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment and documenting data. Accurately and reliably records readings and observations using relevant equipment and instruments, understanding how assigned duties integrate with others in the team. Acts responsible for calibration, safe operation, and routine maintenance of simple and moderately complex instruments or machinery and troubleshoots faulty equipment effects repairs or initiates repair processes as appropriate. Maintains inventories of consumable materials, chemicals, and supplies related to activities by anticipating usage rates, order lead times, and ordering/purchasing procedures, impacting the accuracy of own work. Promptly and effectively communicates issues to Technology Leader or lead scientists to enable or accelerate problem resolution. Actively participate in work group team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem solving, and other work group, department, and functional topics. Qualifications - Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves) Mus t be 18 years of age or older   High school diploma/GED and already enrolled at an accredited college or university located close to the Midland and Auburn Dow sites, pursuing an undergraduate degree. Successfully complete a minimum of 6 credit hours per term during both the Fall and Winter terms (~Sept-Apr). Able to begin work very soon, usually within 4-6 weeks of the job offer, and work year-round at least 16
