About the Role
As a Senior Hardware Development Engineer in the systems team, you will own next-generation AI-enabled IoT device design and validation, delighting our customers with best-in-class quality. You will interact with a versatile team of engineers to design, develop, validate, and launch innovative AI-enabled IoT devices at large scale. To be successful, you need to be highly motivated, understand how to solve problems and dive deep while delivering to the highest standards. You are a technical leader on your team. You work efficiently with limited guidance and embrace the challenge of ambiguous situations where product requirements and specifications are not yet fully defined. Key job responsibilities As a Sr. HW Development Engineer, you will: - Lead the end-to-end hardware development lifecycle for Amazon AI-enabled IoT devices — from concept definition, requirements, design, prototyping, validation, through to mass production and sustaining - Design and develop sensing hardware sub-systems (e.g., load cells, IR photoelectric sensors, accelerometers, humidity/temperature sensors) integrated with wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi, BLE, GNSS/GPS, LTE-M/NB-IoT) - Define hardware requirements and specifications, create design documentation, and drive design reviews - Partner with manufacturing factories (CM/ODM) to drive DFM, DFT, and production readiness; lead vendor meetings and negotiate appropriate manufacturing approaches - Develop and execute comprehensive test plans that validate designs, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution of hardware issues across development and production phases - Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, software, mechanical, product, and quality teams to deliver cohesive product solutions
