Line of Service Internal Firm Services Industry/Sector Not Applicable Specialism IFS - Office of General Counsel (OGC) Management Level Manager Job Description & Summary Reporting to the Privacy & Intellectual Property Lead, this position is a member of the Office of the General Counsel and provides legal support to the firm’s privacy, data protection and intellectual property program. The role supports all facets of the firm’s enterprise-wide compliance with applicable privacy laws and internal policies and procedures. The successful candidate will provide strategic and practical advice on all aspects of privacy, data governance, and information protection, including data protection impact assessments, records retention, breach management, data loss prevention, individual access rights, commercial contracting, privacy training and awareness, and new ventures involving data. This role also supports intellectual property considerations where they intersect with the firm’s privacy and data governance objectives. As needed, this role will support continuity across all aspects of the privacy and data protection program, including breach management in the absence of the Privacy & Intellectual Property Lead. Your role will include, but isn’t limited to: Providing strategic advice on privacy, data governance, and information protection, including breach management in the absence of the Privacy & Intellectual Property Le ad Acting as a member of the Office of General Counsel and collaborating with senior leadership to support the firm’s privacy and data protection program Advising on IT solution onboarding, including AI deployments, assessing privacy, data protection, and related intellectual property implications of new technology , and evaluating vendor arrangements for compliance with applicable privacy laws and data governance standards Supporting the development and implementation of privacy-related policies, processes, risk assessments, training, and compliance monitoring Delivering day-to-day guidance and implementation of privacy legal advice for each of PwC’s Lines of Service Drafting and reviewing contract clauses related to privacy, data protection (including for emerging technology) and advising on applicable Canadian privacy regulatory requirements relevant to contract terms. Maintaining current knowledge of federal, provincial , and international privacy, data security, and information protection laws and emerging regulatory developments Collaborating with and advising internal stakeholders at a local and network level Preparing legal documents and coordinating requests between internal and external counsel Acting as a Subject Matter Expert in privacy and data protection What You'll Bring: Your skills, knowledge, and experiences are what set you apart. Here's what we look for: Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, with the ability to practice law in Ontario is required Professional certifications such as CIPP/C, CIPP/E, CIPM or AIGP are strongly preferred Extensive privacy and data protection law experience gained in a law firm, in-house legal department or regulatory environment and experience advising on CASL and Canadian federal and provincial privacy legislation Fundamental understanding of privacy laws (PIPEDA, GDPR, CASL, provincial privacy laws) Familiarity with AI governance frameworks, cross-border data transfer mechanisms, and records management principles Knowledge of intellectual property laws as they intersect with privacy
