The SLP will have the ability to provide interventions to individuals who experience a loss of and/or a deficiency in functional independence as related to communications and/or oral-motor functions. The therapist must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to problem solve and work effectively with patients, families, staff and physicians, ability to plan and organize and the ability to work independently and in teams. Other duties as assigned. General Responsibilities: Remain current FL State SLP License. Remain current BLS Cert. Evaluations are completed within time frames set by departmental policy. Evaluations meet JCAHO, Medicare and other regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrates proficiency in basic evaluative skills. Demonstrates proficiency in evaluation of the patient with neurological pathology. Demonstrates proficiency in basic treatment techniques. Identified physical and psychosocial changes related to specific age groups. Provides instructions in language appropriate for patient’s age, avoiding medical jargon. Attends at least one conference/workshop per year and provides in-service to peers. Includes other disciplines and team members as resources during the care planning process.
