The Role
As a Technician, you'll bring a higher level of expertise and independence than an entry-level tech. This means owning decisions, working with less day-to-day supervision, and tackling problems that go beyond the routine. You'll collaborate across departments, applying your technical knowledge and sharp learning instincts in a dynamic environment. You'll also play a key role in developing the next generation of talent, mentoring and training entry-level technicians as they grow into the work.
What You'll Do
(Responsibilities): P lanning, developing and building test set-ups and evaluate results; investigate mechanical/electrical operational difficulties on products and/or components and recommending corrective action. Accurately diagnosing vehicles and creating a repair order stating the diagnosis, procedure performed, and parts required Maintaining and updating vehicles to keep the fleet operational while focusing on minimizing vehicle downtime Assisting Engineers to bring fleet up to date with current software and hardware Working with Engineers and operations team to optimize scheduling process for vehicle repairs Maintaining high standards of correct diagnoses, first-time fixes, and timeliness Maintaining detailed online database of vehicle issues & repair history Managing parts inventory levels and supply chain Proactively communicating key field insights related to vehicle issues to headquarters and stay up-to-date on current policies and procedures Conducting test drives to ensure issues have been resolved Performing work with safety being top priority Staying current on continuing education and training requirements Assist with training of new technicians as well as provide initial technical support to contracted technicians as required, if possible Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years Automotive experience Proven experience in fabrication techniques (e.g., welding, machining). Strong understanding and experience with instrumentation systems. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and experience working with automotive components. Familiarity with product electronics, including wiring diagrams and diagnostic tools. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record for test driving responsibilities. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work in various physical conditions. Ability to travel to support off site vehicle development events. What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): Associate's degree in a relevant technical field preferred ASE or State Certified Mechanic CMM measurement experience Understanding of HVAC, Chassis, Brake, Powertrain systems Understanding of product electronic and sub system controllers Experience working with BEV is a plus MIG and TIG welding experience Automotive Electrical trouble shooting background Maximo experience Experience using Microsoft Windows Vehicle software as needed #LI-KE2
