Job Details: **Highly recommended to include a resume in a PDF or Word Document format and/or complete the application fully showing current and past work experience to be considered for the position** SUMMARY: This position may perform a variety of duties related to the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment systems. Responsibilities may include operating a wastewater analysis laboratory; operating and maintaining wastewater collection, pretreatment, and full-treatment systems; and supporting other water or wastewater treatment processes. Additional responsibilities may include: Collecting samples for analysis in accordance with EPA, state, and health department regulations. Performing chemical analyses in laboratory and field settings. Interpreting analytical results and making appropriate system adjustments. Making informed operational decisions to maintain regulatory compliance. Performing mathematical calculations using basic algebraic formulas and a calculator. Completing computerized reports and preparing accurate monthly reports required by permits, state authorities, the EPA, or corporate management. Maintaining operational logs and communicating current system conditions to management. Performing minor to major equipment maintenance. Applying basic mechanical and electrical wiring skills. Operating a spotter truck and forklift. Performing groundskeeping, painting, and general housekeeping duties. Completing other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
One or more years of wastewater experience preferred. Wastewater certification or licensure is preferred but is not required at the time of hire. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills are critical. Certifications and Training: Must successfully complete a stormwater training program selected by site management within 30 days of hire. Must successfully complete the “Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume I” and “Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume II” correspondence courses through California State University, Sacramento within 12 months of hire. Must obtain the applicable entry-level wastewater certification within 12 months of hire or within the timeframe established by state regulations. Must obtain and maintain any additional wastewater certifications and training required by the facility or applicable state regulations. Must obtain and maintain forklift certification. Candidates who already possess a valid forklift certification must meet any applicable site-specific qualification or recertification requirements. Other Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must meet and maintain all minimum qualification requirements established by applicable state regulations and facility policies.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift heavy objects weighing approximately 50–75 pounds; climb and descend stairs and ladders; work in unsanitary conditions; and safely work with or around hazardous chemicals.
Supervisory Responsibilities
