Job Summary

The Director of Finance & Accounting is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing integrated financial planning, analysis, and performance management for the operating company. This role partners closely with business unit leaders and central finance and accounting functions to drive financial strategy, ensure accurate reporting, and support regulatory filings and operational decision-making.

Job Description

What You'll Do: Financial Planning & Analysis Lead consolidated financial planning and management processes for the operating company Oversee development of the annual operating plan and long-term business plans Lead forecasting, reforecasting, and variance analysis (actuals vs. budget) Establish and track key financial metrics and performance indicators Provide strategic insights to support financial performance and operational decisions Financial Strategy & Performance Management Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives Lead scorecard development and performance reporting across the organization Drive financial discipline and accountability across business units Build and maintain proprietary financial models to evaluate performance across segments and regulatory mechanisms Business Partnership & Leadership Serve as the primary liaison between the operating company and central FP&A, Accounting, and Finance teams Partner with business unit leaders (Generation, Nuclear, Distribution, Transmission) to integrate and manage work plans Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial priorities with operational goals Regulatory Accounting & Compliance Lead significant regulatory accounting matters in coordination with central accounting leadership Partner with Regulatory teams to support filing strategy, financial analysis, and execution Provide financial testimony and witness support as needed in regulatory proceedings What We're Looking For:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA/CPA preferred) 8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including leadership roles Experience in regulated industries (e.g., utilities, energy) strongly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and analysis Deep understanding of regulatory accounting and financial reporting Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities Proven ability to influence and partner with senior business leaders Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Leadership Expectations Demonstrates strategic thinking and business acumen Drives results with a focus on accountability and execution Builds strong partnerships across functions and business units Leads with integrity and fosters a high-performance culture Where You'll Work: On-Site in Indiana Michigan Power in Fort Wayne, IN What You'll Get: Base salary Annual bonus Long-term incentive 401K match AEP Pension Comprehensive benefits package that aims to support and enhance the overall well-being of our employees.
