About this role
A Snapshot of Your Day As a SCADA Architect, you will be a key contributor to the development of next-generation Control & Protection HVDC and FACTS systems. You will design and implement holistic SCADA and communication architectures, including HMI visualization and communication functionalities, in a technically challenging environment. Your role bridges the gap between system-level concept creation and hands-on engineering, ensuring robust, modular, scalable, and innovative SCADA solutions for critical infrastructure projects. How You'll Make an Impact (Gas Turbine, R& D , India) ▸ Be part of the Operation Level Software Team within the Grid Flow Platform development, with a focus on R&D activities. ▸ Design holistic SCADA system architectures for critical infrastructure HVDC and FACTS platforms, including HMI components, communication gateways, and monitoring functionalities. ▸ Interpret abstract requirements and translate them into system-level requirement and operational concept specifications. ▸ Work hand-in-hand with IT, IT-Security, Communication Network, and Control architects to incorporate Security by Design for innovative, distributed SCADA systems with multiple stations and subunits. ▸ Act as a crucial stakeholder in plant data modelling for device setup and deployment, and in signal management within the data-driven engineering process framework. ▸ Support the full development lifecycle – requirements engineering, concept creation, implementation, testing, and project delivery. ▸ Act as the technical interface between R&D projects, customer project execution teams, and development teams. What You Bring ▸ Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. ▸ Proven experience in complex SCADA system development, involving (but not limited to) Copa Data Zenon, WinCC OA, SICAM SCC (WinCC Classic), IPCOMM Protocol Converter, or comparable platforms. ▸ Strong understanding of communication protocols – IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, OPC UA, DNP3 – along with data modelling in database structures. ▸ Solid knowledge of network communication protocols (IPv4, TCP/UDP). ▸ Experience in technical project management and cross-functional coordination. ▸ Analytical mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach. ▸ Fluent in English. German is an added advantage. Nice to Have ▸ Domain knowledge of HVDC and FACTS station types. ▸ Familiarity with version control (GIT) and CI/CD deployment tooling. ▸ Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems (CLI and GUI). About the Team(Grid Technologies) Our Grid Technologies division develops and delivers products, solutions, and services for the reliable, sustainable, and digital transmission grid – including HVDC and FACTS systems that enable long-distance power transmission and grid stability. Joining this team means contributing directly to the energy transition and to some of the industry's most technically demanding infrastructure projects. Who is Siemens Energy India?
