Responsibilities
Monitor, assist, and improve all aspects of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Delivery, and Cost within the Shipping, Receiving, and Warehousing environment. This position is responsible for achieving all department expectations and performance metrics. The person in this position will: Ensure safe material-handling and warehouse operations , including forklift use, dock work, and storage practices. Eliminate, prevent, and countermeasure inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, packaging issues, and receiving variances . Meet and exceed daily shipping throughput, receiving processing, order picking, staging, and loading productivity goals . Identify and implement improvements to reduce freight, labor, handling, and storage costs . Contribute to all departmental KPIs such as: On-time shipment Dock-to-stock cycle time Picking/packing accuracy Inventory accuracy Carrier performance metrics TEAM LEAD DUTIES Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality to model expectations for the logistics team. Motivate and engage team members using positive reinforcement and clear direction. Communicate urgency around carrier cut-off times, customer delivery expectations, inbound material priorities, and warehouse flow . Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all shipping, receiving, warehouse management system (WMS) workflows, inventory control tasks, and material flow operations . Provide immediate operational support when staffing gaps occur. Coordinate daily assignments for material handlers, forklift operators, and shipping/receiving clerks. Lead weekly stand‑up meetings to review performance metrics and continuous improvement opportunities. EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS The Team Lead will: Communicate shift-to-shift on inventory issues, workload levels, equipment status, staffing needs, and safety concerns . Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges, including carrier delays, damaged freight, inbound discrepancies, and WMS scanning errors . Ensure accuracy in all packing, labeling, pallet documentation, and shipping paperwork. Promote continuous improvement tools to reduce waste and increase workflow efficiency. Provide new employee orientation and cross-training to ensure a flexible, multi-skilled workforce. Ensure all logistics equipment—forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners—are in safe operating condition. Continuously seek out opportunities to improve material flow, reduce bottlenecks, and eliminate non-value-added activities.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED 1+ years of warehouse or logistics experience, including hands-on operation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and barcode/scanning equipment in a shipping, receiving, or distribution environment. 1+ years of leadership experience, including supervising/coordinating warehouse personnel and facilitating team activities or group meetings. Ability and willingness to work overtime hours, including evening or weekend shifts, as required by operational needs.
