The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team is seeking engineers who can deploy, operate, and maintain the facilities (electrical/mechanical systems, control/fire-fighting systems, etc.) and manage related projects at our large-scale, high-density data centers. This is a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) engineering role, managing infrastructure such as diesel generators, switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, fire detection systems and building automation systems. You will report to the Data Center Engineering Operations Facilities Manager. Key job responsibilities SAFETY Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team member, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture. Lead by example in implementing and maintaining AWS safety protocols Respond to emergency situations and coordinate with emergency services as needed ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE • Operational hands on experience, and deep knowledge with electrical, mechanical, fire protection and control systems, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Water treatment systems, Static Transfer Switch (STS), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), Fire Systems and Transformers. • Operate, monitor, and maintain fire detection and suppression systems including pre-action systems, VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus), and other fire protection equipment • Draft, review and publish Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP) and Method of Procedures (MOP) for in -house activities. • Review vendor documentation for preventative maintenance (e.g. RAMS – Risk Assessment Method of Statement) • Perform routine inspections and testing of fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, and suppression systems in accordance with AWS standards and local regulations • Troubleshoot and resolve straightforward electro-mechanical problems; and collaborates with the engineering team, within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.) • Perform hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance activities on critical infrastructure • Execute equipment repairs, replacements, and facility modifications in accordance with AWS
