About this role

Are you inspired by invention? Is problem solving through teamwork in your DNA? Do you like the idea of seeing how your work impacts the bigger picture? Answer yes to any of these and you’ll fit right in here at Amazon Robotics. We are a smart, collaborative team of passionate doers that work to apply innovative advances in robotics and software to solve real-world problems that will transform our customers’ experiences in ways we can’t even image yet. We invent new improvements every day. We are Amazon Robotics and we will give you the tools and support you need to invent with us in ways that are rewarding, fulfilling and fun. We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a data engineering team within the Customer Experience Infrastructure (CXI) organization. This leader will build and scale big data platforms, manage engineers building data pipelines and data lakes, and drive the technical vision for the team's data infrastructure. You hire and grow the Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, and Software Development Engineers that build this vision. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering depth in distributed data systems combined with proven people management skills to grow and develop a multi-discipline engineering team. You'll be joining a team that's at the forefront of infrastructure innovation, working on greenfield projects with significant business impact, and building solutions that directly enable Amazon's operations teams to move faster and more efficiently. Key job responsibilities - Own the technical vision and architecture for the team's data platforms, pipelines, and data lakes - Drive design reviews, establish engineering standards, and ensure production-grade quality across all systems - Ensure operational excellence — on-call health, incident response, SLA adherence, and system reliability - Manage and grow a team of DEs, BIEs, and SDEs across career levels - Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement - Build and operate scalable data pipelines processing large-scale operational data - Partner with software teams to deliver data products (APIs, real-time feeds, feature stores) - Partner with product and engineering leadership to align data platform roadmap with business priorities - Communicate technical strategy and trade-offs to senior leadership A day in the life As a Software Development Manager on our team, you own the health and growth of your engineering team and the impact it delivers. You hire and develop engineers, raise the bar for design and operational excellence, and partner with principal engineers and product managers to shape technical direction and prioritize the roadmap against real constraints. Much of your impact comes through influence rather than authority. You'll explore emerging AI tools and bring your learnings back to strengthen the data platforms and your team. This is a role where people leadership, technical judgment, and customer obsession work in concert to enrich the software systems that deliver value to CXI’s customers. Amazon offers a full range of benefits that support you and eligible family members, including domestic partners. Benefits can vary by location, the number of regularly scheduled hours you work, length of employment, and job status such as seasonal or temporary employment. The benefits that generally apply to regular, full-time employees include: 1. Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage 2. Maternity and Parental Leave Options 3. Paid Time Off (PTO) 4. 401(k) Plan If you are not sure that every qualification on the list above describes you exactly, we'd still love to hear from you! At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you’re passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply!
