Electronic Systems Technical Specialist - Tools

We are looking for a talented Electronic Systems Technical Specialist – Tools to join our team specializing in engineering for our Cummins’ business in Columbus, IN. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Investigate and resolve electronic tools issues end‑to‑end by identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, owning resolution, and clearly documenting outcomes while leveraging guidance when needed. Improve the effectiveness and reliability of electronic tools by applying and enhancing standard development processes such as ETPL workflows, 7‑step problem solving, and application product development lifecycle practices. Deliver high‑quality, verified software features, components, and builds by collaborating and negotiating with product and software development teams to meet user and business needs. Make sound technical decisions in software architecture, requirements, design, and testing that positively influence product quality, scalability, and feature performance. Ensure robust, reusable, and efficient designs by reviewing and providing constructive feedback on the work of less‑experienced developers and testers. Lead smaller projects or take ownership of complex components or systems, operating independently with full accountability while navigating ambiguity and evolving requirements. Drive continuous improvement across the function by leading enhancements to tools, processes, and systems, and by coordinating work among technicians, student employees, and junior engineers. Serve as a trusted technical specialist within the team by providing guidance on technical direction, sharing knowledge, and continuously building proficiency in critical technology and competency areas.
