Job Overview
The Regional Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost control processes across the North American region of the Sensors BU. Works with local Site Controllers, Product Management, Customer Care and Commercial Finance teams to ensure alignment on current/future standard costing. Key Responsabilities
Standard Costing & Cost Structure
Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead within SAP system. Review of BOMs, routings, info records, source lists and intercompany sources Lead annual standard cost roll and periodic updates as required. Ensure costing structures accurately reflect current operational processes and input assumptions.
Inventory Accounting & Controls
Manage inventory valuation and ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies including Cross Company Intercompany Costing
Variance Analysis
Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead, scrap, purchase price variance). Partner with operations and plant finance teams to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Business Partnering
Collaborate with plant operations, supply chain, and procurement teams to validate and improve cost performance. Support decision-making for make vs. buy, sourcing, and process improvements. Provide financial guidance on cost impacts for operational changes.
Systems & Process Improvement
Maintain and enhance costing processes within ERP systems. Support system implementations, upgrades, or process standardization initiatives. Drive continuous improvement in cost accounting practices and controls.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3-6 years of cost accounting (or related) experience in a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of standard costing and inventory accounting principles Experience with ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred) Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities Ability to work cross-functionally within a cross functional team globally Bilingual (Spanish-English) What your background should look like
