Job Description The Opportunity: What Your Impact Will Be: Job Objective The iSeries Developer and SR Support Analyst is responsible for the stability, availability, and performance of mission-critical applications at the Mattel Asia Manufacturing facility (China and Southeast Asia) and of in-house-developed applications on the IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) platform. This role provides L2/L3 support, including incident response, batch/job scheduling via CA Scheduler, HA/DR support, performance troubleshooting, and release/change activities. You’ll partner closely with business analysts and business stakeholders to improve processes, minimize downtime, protect data integrity, and ensure timely batch completion.
Key Responsibilities
IT Strategy and Planning Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with business objectives Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements Plan and manage IT budgets and cost optimization initiatives Team leadership Lead, mentor, and manage the IT team Assign tasks, conduct performance reviews, and support staff development Collaborate with other departments to meet technical needs. Application Development & Enhancements Design, develop, test, and implement applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. Develop and maintain programs using RPGLE / ILE RPG / Free Format RPG, CLLE, and embedded SQL. Work on DDS, Subfiles, Service Programs, and APIs. Enhance existing legacy applications and support modernization initiatives. Participate in system upgrades and platform migrations where applicable. Coordinate tasks and work activities between onshore and offshore teams to ensure seamless delivery. Manage and coordinate work assignments between onshore and offshore teams, ensuring clear communication, alignment of priorities, and timely execution. Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and audit requirements. Project Management for medium to large projects and enhancements Production Support / Incident Management Provide L2/L3 production support for IBM i applications built in RPG (RPGLE/ILE), CL/CLLE, and SQL on Db2 for i. Monitor application health, system logs, and performance metrics, and identify potential issues. Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents within defined SLA timelines. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes or preventive measures. Handle on-call support and incident escalations as required. Cross-system function support, e.g., EDI integration. Manage and coordinate work assignments between onshore and offshore teams, ensuring clear communication, alignment of priorities, and timely execution Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and audit requirements. Working knowledge of any Change Management tools. Must have experience and willingness to work both in development and production support environments. Monitor system and application performance Identify performance bottlenecks and work with development teams to optimize applications. Track recurring incidents and recommend improvements. Application and System Maintenance Support application deployments, hotfixes, and patches in production environments. Perform configuration changes and environment validation across the Development, UAT, and Production environments. Ensure application uptime,
