Position Summary The Accounting Manager is a key finance leader within SFMS, responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining a strong control environment, and supporting operational and business performance across the site. This role oversees all aspects of general accounting, month-end close, inventory and cost accounting activities, and compliance with corporate policies and GAAP. The Accounting Manager partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, and Corporate Finance to drive financial accuracy, improve business processes, support working capital initiatives, and provide actionable insights that support SFMS business objectives. Key Responsibilities
Lead all site accounting activities, including general ledger management, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and AMETEK policies. Oversee reserve analyses, capital expenditure accounting, and fixed asset management. Analyze financial results, investigate variances monthly in tight partnership with FP&A Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal audit & corporate policies. Support internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting documentation and remediation of control findings. Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items monthly. Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, annual operating plans, and financial analysis. Responsible for overseeing the AR department Drive process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve data quality. Partner with Corporate Finance, Shared Services, and other AMETEK business units to ensure consistency in accounting practices and reporting. Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, special projects, and ad hoc financial analyses as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience. Prior experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls. Demonstrated resolution on technical accounting issues Manufacturing environment experience required. Aerospace and Defense industry experience strongly preferred. Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, and fixed assets preferred. Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience with SOX compliance and audit support. Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, inventory valuation, standard costs, and variance analysis. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems; Oracle and HFM experience strongly preferred.
