About this role
Job Description
About Highly Integrated Systems – TADYS As part of the newly established Highly Integrated Systems (HIS) domain within Aircraft Systems Centre of Competence (CoC), you will join the Computing Platforms & Multisystems HW/SW Integration group (TADYS2). HIS is the Multisystem and IMA Design Office and Airborne Computing Platforms responsible and centralizes expertise and competencies for driving architectural reuse, strategic alignment, and economies of scale across the CoC. Within this framework, the TADYS2 subdomain focuses on the standardization of embedded software and computing platforms. As a Junior Software Platform Integration Engineer, you will support the CoC’s computing platforms strategy. You will contribute to the development and testing of robust, certifiable, and high-performance software artifacts for computing platforms and you will be helping with the HW/SW integration for multi-systems architectures, essential for the next generation of AirPower systems. This role offers a significant learning opportunity to grow within a highly regulated and technologically advanced aeronautical environment.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will assist in the integration and standardization of software platforms through the following pillars: Requirements & Design Support : Assist in the elicitation and maintenance of Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) for onboard safety-critical computers. Support the development and execution of Validation & Verification (V&V) activities in adherence to RTCA DO-178C (up to DAL-A). Platform Integration Assistance : Contribute to the integration of software platform architectures. This includes supporting tasks related to partitioning, scheduling, resource allocation, and the integration of third-party application and low-level software (RTOS BSPs, drivers, and middleware). Standardization & API Support : Help implement and maintain common APIs and standardized access to platform support software (RTOS, BSP, low-level I/O, and middleware) to support various Design and Development Offices. Feature Implementation : Participate in the development of new capabilities for embeddable solutions, such as secure mathematical functions, file system services, and logging services. Certification Support : Support the platform software certification process by assisting in the preparation of documentation and evidence required to demonstrate compliance with RTCA DO-178C. Technical Prototyping: Assist in performing technical benchmarking, rapid prototyping on reference boards, and supporting the evaluation and board bring-up of new target platforms. Required Qualifications & Skills Technical Expertise (Foundational knowledge required): Programming : Solid understanding of C for real-time embedded systems. Familiarity with GNU toolchains and compilers (GCC, Clang/LLVM). Computer Architecture : Foundational knowledge of ARM, PowerPC, or x86 architectures. Understanding of MMUs, caches, and memory hierarchies. Avionics & Protocols : Basic knowledge of avionics data buses (e.g., ARINC-429, CAN, or Ethernet) and digital networks. Peripherals : Familiarity with low-speed peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C) and basic understanding of DMA. RTOS & ARINC-653 : Academic or internship experience (or strong theoretical knowledge) regarding safety-critical RTOS and the ARINC-653 specification. Certification Standards : Basic awareness of RTCA DO-178C processes. Scripting : Ability to use Python for basic automation tasks and understanding of data formats like JSON or XML. Language Skills: English: Good command of English (B2 level or higher) for technical documentation and team collaboration. Additional Valuable Skills: Experience with Embedded Linux Familiarity with modeling tools (UML/SysML) Exposure to static analysis tools and/or structural code coverage tools Experience working in Agile environments
